The School Today

The Impact of COVID

In 2020, the school year was severely disrupted by COVID. In accordance with Kenyan government regulations, NMS students were sent home to reduce the spread of the disease. NMS staff visited the fully sponsored OVCs in their homes to ensure that they received adequate nutrition and support. The students were thrilled to return to school in the fall of 2020 to prepare for upcoming exams.

First NMS Grads Begin University Studies

In 2021, the very first graduates of the Nambale Magnet School, including students who came from some of the poorest households and communities in western Kenya, began their university studies. This is an achievement that was viewed as nearly impossible in 2004 when the concept of the school was developed or even in 2009 when the first students enrolled. We continue to follow their journeys with great anticipation along with the expectation that similar success awaits current and future NMS students!
